Waiheke is the perfect place for Katie to continue her practice with a focus on colour and light. Citrus trees surround her studio. Light filters in through the day creating unique opportunities to explore composition.
“When creating a piece, I focus on light and composition. My work is a combination of traditional oil painting techniques and contemporary thinking. Many layers of paint are used to create resonance and clarity that draw the viewer into the painting.”
