Kristin Hyde

Kristin is an Auckland based intuitive mixed media and resin artist who creates from a place she calls her ‘inner being’. Her work is often recognized for her use of bright, bold colour and texture.

Kristin says "Colour energizes me, it feeds my soul."

After Flying the World for a living for most of her working life, in 2020 after experiencing the holiday of a lifetime ( a month sailing in the Bahamas with her oldest Son), Kristin could no longer ignore the ‘whispers from her heart’ and so decided to make the leap, follow her long held dream and became a Full time Creative.

Nearly two years on, representation in several galleries and many public exhibitions later, she has absolutely no regrets. "Painting is about creating from the heart. It’s a Visual Diary of ones sub conscious memories of places, emotions and Nature. Painting for me is like an addiction, an obsession - it’s a deep seated NEED to paint everyday. They say if you do something you love, you’ll never feel like you’ve worked a day in your life - and it’s true! I go to sleep thinking of colour and painting and I wake up thinking of colour and painting"

Kristin says she has tried to paint ‘quietly’ but finds that the need to add colour invariably seduces her and so just surrenders to the desire and gives in to the temptation. "I just can’t help myself- Colour is uplifting, it makes me happy. It heals me." When it comes to inspiration Kristin says "Being a creative is both a blessing and a curse. Sometimes my head feels like a computer with a 100 different windows open all at once." Kristin loves to see people’s reaction to her work. When it connects with them there is no greater reward.
