SWEATS
Bold and primal, SWEATS art consists principally of expressionistic figures and objects. Beginning as abstraction, his portraits are brought to life through the eyes, lips and teeth, which emerge from vibrant colours so as to explode the senses. The effect taps into a feeling of synaesthesia that opens up the viewer to explore the human experience – an experience that is not only multifaceted but unique to the individual.
Shifting between studio, street and screen, SWEATS employs strong contrasts through popping palettes, striking stencil features, and deconstructed typography to explore colour and form. He works under the influence of music, using its physicality to generate spontaneous dynamic movement and gestural mark making to build textural layers into artworks that contain echos of distressed faxes and photocopies. This process remains grounded in undercurrents of pop culture that allow him to hold on to a playful naivety.
